Colorado Wildfire Awareness: Protecting the Habitat We Guide You Through

Every tour we run passes through the forests, meadows, and river corridors that wildfire threatens most the same aspen groves, alpine meadows, and wildlife corridors our guests come to see. Protecting that habitat isn't separate from what we do; it's the reason we do it, and it shapes how we plan a route long before a guest ever books.

Colorado's wildfire seasons have grown longer and more severe, putting wildlife, watersheds, and mountain communities at real risk. Drier winters and hotter summers have pushed fire activity into months that used to be considered safe, and the damage doesn't stop at the treeline it reaches the towns, trails, and habitats our tours depend on. Small choices a fire ban followed, a campfire alternative used, a donation to a community fund add up to real protection for the places we love to explore.

Below you'll find current fire safety information, crisis and recovery resources, and ways to directly support Colorado communities recovering from wildfire. This isn't a one-time post we check and update this page as conditions, restrictions, and community needs change throughout the season.

How We Are Doing Our Part

Fire-Safe Routing
Guides check local fire restrictions before every tour and adjust routes around active bans and closures. If a trail or overlook is under any level of restriction, we reroute no exceptions, no waiting to see how bad it gets.

No Open-Flame Stops
We use campfire alternatives on every trip, no exceptions, regardless of what a site technically allows. A permitted fire ring still throws sparks in dry conditions, so we skip it entirely and bring gear that gets the same result without the risk.

Community First
We share recovery resources and community funds with guests year-round, not just during active fire season. Wildfire doesn't end when the smoke clears the towns we tour through are still rebuilding long after, and we point guests toward where that support actually helps.
